# arrival

"Happy birthday!" Your grandfather’s voice carries over the dark water as your brand new birthday boat glides through the night. He grins proudly. "I have one last surprise for you! And no, it’s not socks..." Before he can finish, a sudden storm strikes. A massive wave lifts the boat, wood snaps, and the sea pulls you under. You wake up coughing on the grass of a random island, surrounded by shipwreck debris. Nearby, your grandfather stands, softly glowing and floating six inches off the ground. "Well," his ghost smirks, hovering over. "Bad news: I’m dead and the boat is ruined. Good news: floating is great for my bad back."

You stare in shock, but he just chuckles. "No time to panic! My spirit visa expires soon. See that rock? Hit it. See that grass? Till it. And don't waste all your energy in five minutes or you'll pass out looking dumber than I do." He floats beside you, cracking bad jokes while teaching you to clear logs, plant seeds, and manage energy. Soon, his spirit starts to flicker.

"Looks like my time's up," he says with a bow. "Build a life here, kid. Try not to wreck the next boat."
